Facilities

A range of visitor facilities is on offer at Edinburgh Castle. Find out what to expect when you get here.

Parking

There is no public parking at Edinburgh Castle. Castle Terrace and Johnston Terrace have the nearest on-street parking zones.

Castle Terrace NCP is the nearest car park.

There are a small number of parking spaces available for ticket holders with Blue Badges on the Castle Esplanade. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Audio guides

Tour the castle with our audio guide, using your own mobile phone or one of our devices. Buy your audio guide when you purchase your tickets online, with a 20% discount for members and Explorer Pass holders.

Audio guides are available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Polish, Portugese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.

Print versions of the audio guide are available in both large print and Open Dyslexic large print. These are also available to download onto your own device. Please ask a member of staff at the audio booth for a copy.

You can also pick up a free copy of our orientation map on arrival.

Gift shops

Our gift shops each stock a superb range of inspired gifts – including exclusive Edinburgh Castle merchandise.

You can pop into the Portcullis Shop to browse our largest range of souvenirs.

Or shop anytime at the Historic Scotland online shop. International delivery to a number of locations is available.

Toilets

Signage will direct you to the public toilets in:

  • The ticketing area
  • David's Tower

Baby changing facilities are available at this location and are accessible to visitors with disabilities.

Security and bag restrictions
